So for the past couple of days, I have been trying out the new Microsoft Edge beta that is built on top of the Chromium open source project developed by Google. As you can imagine I can summarise my thoughts into it is Google Chrome with a Microsoft Edge skin.
From the moment I open the beta all my Chrome bookmarks etc where all in the places I was expecting likely one of the advantages of both browsers being built on Chromium. I decided to use Edge for all my work-related activities and in all honesty I didn't notice a difference (except I had to switch the default search engine from Bing to Google because Bing is just dreadful).
The LastPass extension is pretty much just the exact same as the Chrome version and I can even hop over to the Chrome Web Store and install any extension I want from that store as I did with Adblock for a test. Admittedly, there is a toggle I need to flip to confirm I want to do this which will be handy for the folk that know very little about internet browsers.
In summary, if you like Chrome then you will likely not mind the new Edge all that much. Personally, I would still use Chrome as it is what I know and it has much tighter integration with the Google services that I use.
